Graham Potter has revealed his disappointment at West Ham’s FA Cup exit to Aston Villa in his first game in charge.

Potter was recently appoint as West Ham’s new manager, replacing sack Julen Lopetegui, and took charge of the team in Friday’s FA Cup third-round tie at Aston Villa.

“We were disappoint to go out and lose, but the players’ coordination was great. The players got everything we needed in the short time (of preparation),” Potter said after the game.
“It’s disappointing to lose an attacking player, that changes the face of our attacking threat. We had more chances at the end but Aston Villa were too strong.”
“The loss of Niklas Füllkrug and Crysencio Summerville affected our attacking game. We were too deep in defence and the injuries to our attacking players were a big blow.”
Füllkrug played a key role in West Ham’s goal. Max Kilman, receiving Lukasz Fabianski’s ball out, played a deliberate pass up for the Germany striker to head back for Mohammed Kudus, who chested the ball down before striking it on the rise out wide to Summerville. He crossed, low and square, for Paquetá to sidefoot home. Only four minutes later however Füllkrug pull up with a hamstring injury, to be replace by Danny Ings, while Summerville did not come out for the second half after an unspecified problem.
